They are around 1 to 2 feet tall at the shoulder and live to be about 12 to 15 years old. These dogs are known for herding sheep. Australian Shepherds are high energy, and will become loud and destructive if they don’t get an adequate amount of exercise each day. These dogs are very good at agility, obedience, and being guide dogs. Australian Shepherds are good with kids if trained, if not they might try to herd them like sheep. They make great dogs for active families.

Samoyeds can be 1 to 2 feet tall at the shoulder, and weigh roughly 50 to 60 pounds. Their average lifespan is about 12 to 14 years. Samoyeds have a unique upturn of the corner of their mouths, called the “Sammy smile”. smiling-sammy-samoyedThese dogs usually chose one special person to devote themselves to, but are affectionate to everyone and make great family dogs. Samoyeds have extremely thick white fur, and shed a lot in the Spring. If Samoyeds aren’t kept busy, they will find something to do like digging, getting into garbage, and chewing shoes. Since they were bred for hunting, Samoyeds have a strong urge to chase squirrels, rabbits, and other small animals.
