This week I will be talking about the Australian Shepherd. Australian Shepherds are small-to-medium sized dogs, weighing about 40 to 65 pounds. They are around 1 to 2 feet tall at the shoulder and live to be about 12 to 15 years old. These dogs are known for herding sheep. Australian Shepherds are high energy, and will become loud and destructive if they don’t get an adequate amount of exercise each day. These dogs are very good at agility, obedience, and being guide dogs. Australian Shepherds are good with kids if trained, if not they might try to herd them like sheep. They make great dogs for active families.
